Looks like Stephen Daldry has been able to seize the spirit of Bernhard Schlink's novel after all. Kate Winslet is splendid as usual. I'm more surprised by the performance of David Kross: he is for sure a rising star, I bet we will hear from him again in a not too distant future.

The Reader is an upcoming drama movie based on the 1995 German novel The Reader (Der Vorleser) by Bernhard Schlink. The film is directed by Stephen Daldry and is starring David Kross, Kate Winslet and Ralph Fiennes. The movie should be released in December 2008.

I have been moved by Bernhard Schlink's novel. If this movie adaptation of the Reader could be half as interesting as the original book then it would be a great movie success for sure. With actors such as Kate Winslet and Ralph Fiennes in the cast I am confident it will!
